Holds Master’s Degree in Economics, Defence and Strategic Studies.

Joined Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1980.

Served at the Headquarters as Section Officer (1988-1989), Director (1989-1991 & 1997-2000), Director General (2006-2008) and Additional Foreign Secretary (July 2008-January 2009).

Held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad: Muscat (1983-1988), New York (Permanent Mission to UN) (1991-1994), Kathmandu (1994-1997), Brussels (2001-2003) and Los Angeles (2003-2006).

Serving as Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan since 2^nd March 2009
